The Carrier undertakes to transport passengers and vehicles on the following General Conditions of Carriage (hereinafter, “General Conditions”), which are adequately advertised at all ticket offices, company offices, travel agencies, and on board the vessel, as well as on the Carrier’s website (https://blunavytraghetti.com; hereinafter, “Website”). The term “Passenger” refers to any person transported under these General Conditions. In addition to these General Conditions, the Passenger is also required to comply with the provisions dictated by Italian, European, and international laws and regulations, as well as the Carrier’s regulations and the provisions of the ship’s Commander. The term “Carrier” and/or “Company” refers to BN di Navigazione S.p.A., with registered office in Portoferraio (57037) at Via Calata Italia, No. 24A, Tax Code and VAT No. 01968710994. The object of the contract is the provision of transport as regulated by Articles 396 and following of the Navigation Code. Where the name of the ship to be used for transport is specified on the ticket, this must be understood merely as indicative, as it is within the Carrier’s discretion to carry out the transport with another ship. The Carrier declines any responsibility for damages caused to the Passenger by delay, interruption or non-performance of transport, as well as by itinerary modification, if the event arises from force majeure, adverse weather-marine conditions, strikes, technical failures, or other causes not attributable to it. However, it is within the discretion of the ship’s Commander, in the presence of events that may compromise the safety of the ship and/or the Passengers, to cancel or interrupt the journey, or to modify the itinerary. Rates and these General Conditions may be subject to change until the ticket is issued. Throughout the journey and until disembarkation, Passengers are required to keep their luggage and other personal effects (if carried outside the luggage) safe, ensuring that these do not pose a danger or obstruction to other Passengers and/or crew, and they remain fully responsible for them and for everything contained in the luggage. Crossing times are calculated based on the distance between ports and in favorable weather-marine conditions. The Carrier cannot be held responsible for delays due to port operations. All persons on board are subject to the authority of the ship’s Commander, who is vested with disciplinary power as provided by law (Article 186 of the Navigation Code). From the beginning of boarding operations until the end of disembarkation operations, the Passenger must comply with the prescriptions, regulations, and provisions in force on board and/or dictated by the Commander or any member of the ship’s crew and/or otherwise disseminated by the Carrier or its personnel. The Passenger must also conduct themselves with due diligence and prudence, ensuring the safety and well-being of their person, of the persons and animals under their custody, especially in adverse weather-marine conditions; therefore, the Carrier is not liable for any damages resulting from the Passenger’s failure to comply with these rules of conduct. The Carrier also does not assume responsibility for expenses and damages to persons, luggage, and belongings carried by the Passenger resulting from force majeure, fortuitous events, sea fortune, and any other event not attributable to it. In the event of the Carrier’s liability, legal limitations will apply.
The passage ticket is personal, non-transferable, and valid only for the transport specified therein. At the time of ticket issuance, the Passenger must provide the following personal data: Surname, Name, Age Category (infant, child, adult), special care and assistance that may be required in case of emergency (if requested by the Passenger), and at least one contact between email address and mobile phone for sending the ticket and any communications regarding the management of the journey or any emergencies by the Carrier. Upon delivery of the ticket, the Passenger is required to verify the accuracy of all data contained therein (date, scheduled departure time, number and type of passengers, characteristics and license plate of the vehicle, any supplements). The Carrier will not assume any responsibility for errors or omissions reported subsequently; tickets with abrasions and/or corrections are considered null and void. If the ticket was purchased through the Website, in case of non-receipt of the ticket at the contact (email and/or mobile phone) provided by the Passenger at the time of purchase, the Passenger must promptly report such non-receipt via email to the Carrier at the address: [email protected]; the issuance of the duplicate can only take place provided that the original ticket has not already been used, subject to identification of the Passenger. The Carrier assumes no responsibility in case the Passenger makes mistakes in indicating their contact (email and/or mobile phone) at the time of ticket purchase. The Passenger is required to keep the ticket to justify their right to transport and to show it to any member of the ship’s crew or Carrier’s personnel who requests it. If it is found that the Passenger’s age does not correspond to what is indicated on the ticket, the Passenger must regularize their travel document at BN ticket offices located in the ports of Piombino and Portoferraio by paying the fare difference provided there is sufficient time for such regularization before the ship’s departure, which cannot be delayed. If there are discrepancies between the type of vehicle and the relevant tariff category, the ticket will be canceled and a new ticket will be issued at BN ticket offices located in the ports of Piombino and Portoferraio only if there is availability and provided there is sufficient time for such cancellation and issuance before the ship’s departure, which cannot be delayed; in case of unavailability of space, the boarding of the vehicle will not be allowed. For the purpose of determining the applicable reduced fare, “child” means those who have already turned four years old but have not yet turned twelve (4-11), and “infant” means those who have not yet turned four years old (0-3).
Only tickets issued at the regular rate can be refunded, provided that the cancellation is requested by the Passenger within 24 (twenty-four) hours before the scheduled departure time indicated on the ticket. The refund must be requested: (a) at ticket offices operated by the Carrier, for tickets purchased at one of these ticket offices or through the Website. In this case, the requesting Passenger will be provided with a specific form to be completed and sent, within the aforementioned period, by email to the following address: [email protected]; the subsequent refund will be made by the Carrier by bank transfer; (b) at the retailer where the ticket was purchased, if the purchase was made through travel agencies, tour operators, ticket offices not operated by the Carrier, and/or other types of retailers (including websites other than that of the Carrier). In this case, the refund will be made directly to the Passenger by the retailer, provided that the latter receives the cancellation request within the aforementioned 24 (twenty-four) hour period before the scheduled departure time indicated on the ticket; (c) at ticket offices operated by the Carrier or by contacting the Carrier’s call center, regardless of the method used to purchase the ticket, the Passenger may request – always within the aforementioned 24 (twenty-four) hour period before the scheduled departure time indicated on the ticket – the cancellation of the ticket and receive, alternatively to the cash refund, a coupon equal to the refund amount, which the Passenger must use within 12 months from the date of issue. The coupon cannot be combined with other discounts, coupons, benefits, or promotional initiatives offered by the Carrier; (d) for tickets purchased exclusively through the Website, the Passenger may request, by accessing the Website and always within the aforementioned period, the cancellation of the ticket and the refund via “borsellino”, as regulated in the following article 3. The refund of the regular-rate ticket is subject to the following penalties: a deduction of 10% for tickets cancelled within 30 days prior to the departure date; a deduction of 20% for tickets cancelled within 10 days prior to the departure date; a deduction of 30% for tickets cancelled within 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure time; a deduction of 50% for tickets cancelled within 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. For the calculation of the aforementioned penalties, the amount of the tickets shall be understood net of reservation fees, as well as taxes, supplements, and other fees referred to in article 15 of these General Conditions. Starting from 24 (twenty-four) hours before the scheduled departure time of the ship, it will be possible to request the cancellation of the ticket, provided that the Passenger will not be entitled to any refund nor can assert any different right and/or claim for such cancellation. In any case, no refund will be granted if: (i) the ticket was issued at a non-refundable rate; (ii) the Passenger does not show up for departure within the time limit set for boarding as provided for in article 9 of these General Conditions; (iii) the ticket was not cancelled in accordance with the aforementioned methods within 24 hours before the scheduled departure time; (iv) the ticket was issued with a rate for residents, natives, homeowners on the Island of Elba, and commuter workers. Refund via “borsellino”: for tickets purchased exclusively through the Website, the Passenger may request the cancellation of the ticket and receive the refund amount provided for in this article 3 by crediting it to their “borsellino”. To use this refund method, the Passenger must have already activated – before requesting the cancellation of the ticket – the “borsellino” mode on the Website. The amount credited to the “borsellino” can be used to purchase one or more new tickets from the Carrier, up to the amount credited, provided that such new tickets are always issued to the Passenger who owns the “borsellino”.
The loss or theft of a ticket must be immediately reported to the issuing agency or to the ticket offices in Piombino and/or Portoferraio within the time limit set for boarding as provided for in article 9 of these General Conditions. The issuance of a duplicate ticket may only occur on condition that the original ticket has not already been used, upon presentation of identification document.
Changes to date and time on regular tickets will be accepted provided they are requested before the deadline for boarding, as provided for in article 9 of these General Conditions, subject to availability on board and payment of any price adjustment difference. Price differences in favor of the Passenger will not be refunded. Changes are only allowed within the departures published on the Website. Changes to tickets requested on the same day of ticket purchase do not incur penalties. Changes regarding the number and type of passengers and/or vehicles result in the cancellation of the ticket, with the application of penalties provided for in article 3 of these General Conditions and the issuance of a new ticket.
The Company acknowledges the application of discounted rates for owners of a second home located in one of the municipalities of the Island of Elba, as well as for commuter residents and workers (the latter only with a bridge passage subscription). The discount also applies to vehicles, if registered to Passengers who are owners of a second home located in one of the municipalities of the Island of Elba. With the exception of commuter residents and commuter workers, the Passenger may change, once or several times, the date and time of departure of the ticket purchased with the discounts provided for in this article, provided that such changes are requested at the Carrier’s ticket offices located in the ports of Piombino and Portoferraio or by phone through our call center, and that there are available seats on the new requested date and time; the ticket must be used within 30 days following the departure for which it was originally issued, after this deadline, the ticket will be canceled and the Passenger will not be entitled to any refund, either in whole or in part, of the corresponding amount and cannot claim any other right or demand. For owners of a second home located in one of the municipalities of the Island of Elba, the tariff reduction will be up to a maximum of 30% off the ordinary tariff applied to the respective journey. For commuter residents and commuter workers, subscription rates will be published by the Carrier from time to time. If, at boarding, the Passenger does not correspond to the holder of the ticket issued at a discounted rate as per this article, the ticket will be canceled, no refund will be granted, and the Passenger will be required to pay the full ticket price at the ordinary tariff applied to the booked journey, provided that there is sufficient time for such regularization of the ticket before the departure of the ship, which cannot be delayed. If, twice, at boarding or on board, the transfer of one’s travel document issued at a discounted rate for owners of a second home located in one of the municipalities of the Island of Elba to third parties (including family members) is discovered, the Carrier reserves the right to permanently revoke the granted discount and cancel the above-mentioned “Second Home Owner” card. For the request for the “Resident Card” valid for residents Elba/Piombino or natives Elba, the following documentation must be attached to the request: 1 passport photo, valid front/back Identity Document (attesting to birth in one of the Elba municipalities in the case of “Nativo Elba Card”), certificate of residence in one of the Municipalities of the Island of Elba or in Piombino, and any vehicle registration documents to be included in the card, if provided for the “Resident Card Elba/Piombino” The Passenger will receive a digital card with a photo, which must be shown at every request by the onboard personnel and/or the Carrier’s representatives and which will allow them to purchase the ticket at a discounted rate also through the Site (as well as at the Carrier’s ticket offices in the ports of Piombino and Portoferraio or through the Carrier’s call center); the purchase of the ticket at a discounted rate for vehicles through the Site is subject to the prior registration of such vehicles in the above registration. If, along with the ticket at a discounted rate for tickets purchased with the “Resident” rate as per this Article 6.2, a ticket at the ordinary rate is also purchased, the provisions for changing the date and time contained in this Article 6.2 do not apply to such ticket at the ordinary rate but to the ordinary ones provided for in the general conditions of the contract. If it is found three times within a three-year period, during boarding or on board, that the Passenger has transferred their “Resident Card” to third parties (including family members), the Carrier reserves the right to revoke the “Resident Card” mentioned above.

Any subsequent changes to the ticket thus purchased may be made, within the limits provided by these General Conditions, as follows (i) via the aforementioned Carrier’s website, within the limits of the availability of seats reserved for the offer linked to the Discount Code, subject to registration on the aforementioned website and payment of any fare difference on which the Discount Code will be applied; or (ii) at the Carrier’s ticket offices or call center, subject to payment of any fare difference on which the Discount Code will not be applied. The deadline for check-in is 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time for Passengers without a vehicle and 30 minutes before for Passengers with vehicles, unless otherwise instructed by the Authorities. Check-in takes place at the ship’s ramp. After the aforementioned deadlines, the Carrier does not guarantee boarding. Except as provided for Passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility.
Passengers traveling with vehicles must adhere to the following prescriptions: A) Vehicles powered by LPG must be declared at the time of boarding to the onboard personnel and must be boarded with the tank half empty; B) Electric alarm and anti-theft systems must be deactivated at the time of boarding. For the purpose of determining the tariff category to which they belong, vehicle lengths are always considered as “overall”, and therefore inclusive of tow bars, rudders, or other protrusions. “Camper / minivan” vehicles with an overall length greater than 4.00 meters must be booked in one of the “Camper/Minivan” categories specifying their actual length for the correct determination of the applicable tariff: the vehicle definition stated in the registration document is binding. Vehicles will not be boarded in the chronological order of their arrival at the quay, but according to the instructions given by the ship’s Captain and/or his subordinates and may be accommodated on any deck of the ship. They must be parked with the handbrake engaged and the gear engaged, and will be embarked and disembarked at the sole and exclusive care and responsibility of the Passenger. Any trailer or caravan following the vehicle is accepted by the Carrier specifying the value of the additional length at the time of booking. Also in accordance with articles 412 and 435 of the Navigation Code, any damage to vehicles or any harmful event that occurs on board the Carrier’s ships must be reported before disembarkation. For this purpose, the Passenger must file a report with the Captain and/or one of the ship’s officers who will collect the complaint using a specific form, which must be signed by the Passenger, without prejudice to any rights and/or exceptions of the Carrier.
In the event that the Passenger, who has not previously purchased the ticket, presents himself at the check-in point asking to buy the ticket, the Carrier reserves the right to accommodate such request – upon payment of a surcharge – by issuing the relevant ticket also on board the ship, provided that: (i) the request to purchase the ticket is made within 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time, or 30 minutes for Passengers with accompanying vehicles; (ii) at the time of the request to purchase the ticket there is availability of seats on board; and (iii) there is sufficient time for the issuance of the ticket before the departure of the ship, which cannot be delayed. Purchasing before the aforementioned times can only be done at the Carrier’s ticket offices located in the ports of Piombino and Portoferraio.
The Company’s ships do not have cages and/or other means of transportation for animals and, due to their technical characteristics, are intended for the sole transport of Passengers and vehicles. Pets are therefore only allowed on the external decks of the ship. It is allowed, upon purchase of the relevant ticket, to transport a pet accompanying the Passenger, under the following conditions: a) from the moment of embarkation until disembarkation, dogs must be muzzled and leashed or, alternatively, must remain inside the suitable carrier, which the Passenger will take care to embark; cats must be kept in the same carrier, as well as birds in suitable cages embarked by the Passenger. The embarkation of carriers and cages does not generate an additional charge on the fare applied for the passage of animals; b) animals must be transported under conditions such as not to cause damage or discomfort to other Passengers and/or to the ship. No ticket is due for guide dogs intended to assist visually impaired persons, provided with relevant documentation, which may access internal areas; for reasonable cause, the provisions of EU Regulation No. 1177/2010 apply to assistance dogs for persons with disabilities or reduced mobility. The Carrier reserves the right to request, before embarkation and at any time during the journey, a health certificate attesting to the good health status and the vaccination booklet of the animal. Certifications with issue dates more than 90 days prior to the departure date will not be considered valid. Maintenance, custody, and care of animals during transportation are at the expense and risk of the Passenger, who is required to comply with the health provisions dictated by the Competent Authorities and any other provision given by the Commander. The Passenger undertakes to indemnify and hold harmless the Carrier from any and all liability, burden, cost, and/or expense that the Carrier may incur, also as a result of third-party claims, connected or consequent to actions of their own animal (including assistance dogs for persons with disabilities or reduced mobility as provided for by EU Regulation No. 1177/2010) or resulting from the Passenger’s failure to comply with the regulatory rules and provisions mentioned above, as well as existing Laws on the subject.

For any dispute arising from the interpretation and/or execution of these General Conditions, the competent jurisdiction is exclusively that of the Carrier’s registered office, unless the Passenger qualifies as a consumer, in which case, where provided for by the applicable Law, the jurisdiction of residence or elective domicile of the Passenger shall be exclusively competent.
Port taxes, fuel surcharge, landing fees, and all other fees and surcharges are always excluded and to be added to the fares applicable to the journey. The respective amounts are subject to change until the ticket is issued, without prejudice in any case to the Carrier’s right to make any changes at any time resulting from changes in current regulations.
Passengers are required to present their travel ticket and identification document if requested by ship personnel. Passengers, upon boarding, are also required to take from their vehicles all valuable items and necessities for the crossing. It is strictly forbidden to disembark from the ship after boarding procedures. If the ship has a side entrance for foot passengers, access to the garage with the vehicle is allowed only for the driver, while accompanying Passengers must use the side staircase with the boarding card issued at check-in. Access to the ship’s garage during navigation is strictly prohibited. During the ship’s stopover in port, it is prohibited to approach within 50 meters of the ship and moorings.
In uncomplicated pregnancy conditions, after the 6th month of pregnancy, it is necessary to obtain a medical certificate, issued no more than 48 hours before departure, authorizing travel, to be presented to ship personnel upon request. In the presence of complications, the pregnant passenger must instead be provided with a medical certificate authorizing travel regardless of the months of pregnancy.
Passengers aged 14 to 18 may travel unaccompanied, under the responsibility of those exercising parental authority, provided they submit a letter signed by both parents upon boarding, according to the model available on the Carrier’s website, along with the family status and documents of both parents, declaring their assumption of all responsibility for any damage suffered by the minor and/or caused to third parties or the ship. Under no circumstances will the ship’s Captain and/or other crew member assume custody, and the resulting responsibility, for the minor. Children under the age of 14 may travel alone, but must also submit the legally required parental authorization letter signed by the parents to the Carrier upon boarding. All minors must have a valid identity document.
Except as provided for passengers with disabilities and passengers with reduced mobility under EU Regulation No. 1177/2010, the Carrier does not accept passengers who require medical assistance during transport unless accompanied by authorized medical or paramedical personnel. Subject to the faculties provided for in art. 192, co. II, Cod. Nav. the boarding of passengers clearly affected by serious or otherwise dangerous illnesses for the safety of navigation or for the safety of persons on board is subject to authorization by the competent Authorities. In the presence of a suitable medical certificate stating that the passenger does not require medical assistance during transport, the Carrier may board said passenger declining all responsibility in this regard. Furthermore, the boarding of the passenger who is in physical or mental conditions that do not allow them to undertake the journey or cause nuisance or danger to themselves and others, including but not limited to abuse of drugs, hallucinogens, and alcohol, is subject to the judgment of the Captain and the ship’s doctor, if present. In all the aforementioned cases, the passenger shall be entitled to the sole refund of the ticket paid, and nothing else may be claimed for any reason; they will also be responsible for any damage caused to their own person, the ship, all its equipment or equipment, third parties as well as third-party property. The Carrier’s acceptance of the passenger on board shall not be considered as a waiver of any right to subsequently assert their reservations regarding the passenger’s conditions, whether known or unknown by the Carrier at the time of boarding and/or departure of the ship.
Assistance for passengers with disabilities and passengers with reduced mobility is provided within the limits set by EU Regulation No. 1177/2010. The request for assistance must be sent to the Carrier at least forty-eight hours before the assistance is required. The Carrier will send the Passenger a written confirmation, via SMS or email to the contact details provided by the Passenger, of the receipt of the assistance request; it is the Passenger’s responsibility to ensure that they have received this confirmation and to present it at the time of check-in. At the time of ticket purchase, the Passenger must also inform the Carrier of their specific needs for accommodation, seating, requested services, or the need to transport medical devices. In order to ensure compliance with the aforementioned EU Regulation No. 1177/2010, the Passenger must personally present themselves at the designated location, as notified by the Carrier after receiving the assistance request, at least 60 minutes before the boarding time. If accompanied by another person capable of providing assistance to the Passenger, as requested by the Carrier, such companion shall travel free of charge.
Our offices and port ticket offices are available for any information, quotations, and reservations regarding freight transport.
In accordance with art. 384 Reg. Nav. Mar., Passengers must deliver to the ship’s Captain, who will keep them until disembarkation, any weapons and ammunition in their possession upon boarding. The withdrawal of weapons or ammunition by those holding them due to their office or service is permitted only for serious and established reasons to be indicated with a specific declaration at the time of withdrawal. Failure to report the transport of weapons is sanctioned under art. 1199, co. II, Cod. Nav., unless it constitutes a more serious offense. Anyone intending to ship dangerous goods of any kind and nature is required to provide written notification to the Carrier at the time of ticket purchase, in order to verify if the respective ship is authorized to transport dangerous goods and provide all relevant information, and in any case all information requested by the carrier, for the purpose of classifying the goods. The ship’s Captain reserves the right, in any case, not to embark goods that are deemed dangerous at their own discretion.
If a Passenger forgets or loses personal items on board, they may contact the onboard staff or the ticket offices or report the loss by written communication to the Carrier’s email address: [email protected]. The Carrier is not liable for any compensation in case of failure to retrieve lost or forgotten items on board by the Passenger.
For all matters not covered by these General Conditions, Italian law and EU Regulation No. 1177/2010 apply.
If a Passenger wishes to file a complaint with the Carrier under EU Regulation No. 1177/2010, they shall do so within two months from the date the service was provided or should have been provided, by email to [email protected] using the downloadable form from the Website. The form can be filled out in Italian and English. Within one month of receiving the complaint, the Carrier notifies the Passenger whether the complaint has been accepted, rejected, or is still under review. The time needed to provide a final response does not exceed two months from receiving a complaint. In the event of no response to the complaint within the aforementioned time frame, the Passenger has the option, in addition to any other legal remedy, to submit a second-instance complaint to the Transport Regulatory Authority, as outlined on the Authority’s website (https://www.autorita-trasporti.it/).
Subject to any other provisions of applicable law, the economic compensation, if any, owed by the Carrier to the Passenger in cases of delayed arrival is calculated in relation to the price paid for the ticket and is guaranteed according to the minimum level set forth in Article 19 of EU Regulation No. 1177/2010. In any case and notwithstanding any other legal exemption, where applicable, if the delay was known to the Passenger before purchasing the ticket, caused by the Passenger themselves, caused by weather conditions endangering the safe operation of the ship, or due to extraordinary circumstances hindering the execution of the service, which could not have been avoided even by taking all reasonable measures, compensation is not due. Requests for economic compensation of less than 6 euros will not be accepted, whether for individual tickets or subscriptions.
